PMD Reveals Expected Start Date of Monsoon Season

Lahore may receive rain during the next 24 hours as weather conditions continue to change across several parts of the country, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said on Tuesday.

According to PMD Deputy Director Atif Irshad, rainfall has been reported in various cities, while Lahore is also likely to witness rain as cloud cover increases over the coming days.

He said the city’s sky is expected to remain partly cloudy for the next two to three days, which could bring some relief from the ongoing heat. The Met Office has forecast a maximum temperature of up to 39 degrees Celsius in Lahore. However, officials said there is currently no threat of a heatwave in the city.

Atif Irshad said the prevailing weather conditions remain within the normal range and there is no need for residents to be overly concerned about heatwave conditions.

He added that Pakistan’s monsoon season is expected to begin during the first week of July, after which rainfall activity is likely to intensify in different regions of the country.
