PEIRA Gives Final Deadline to Islamabad Private Schools

The Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA) has given private schools in Islamabad a final deadline of June 30 to submit details of students admitted under the mandatory 10 percent need-based scholarship quota.

According to a statement issued by the authority, institutions that fail to provide the required data by the deadline may face regulatory action. PEIRA said registration and renewal services for non-compliant schools will remain restricted until they fulfill the requirement.

The authority also warned that the names of defaulting institutions will be published on its official website and shared with relevant examination boards.

The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by PEIRA Chairman Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah to review compliance with the Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2012, which requires private schools to reserve 10 percent of admissions for deserving students.

PEIRA noted that a significant number of schools have yet to submit the required scholarship information despite repeated notices.

Dr. Mallah said out-of-school children identified through enrollment campaigns would be given priority under the scholarship scheme to help improve access to education.

The authority also announced that schools already complying with the scholarship requirement would receive letters of appreciation in recognition of their contribution to educational inclusion.
