KP Releases First-Ever University Rankings

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s universities have been ranked for the first time under a province-wide higher education assessment, with IMSciences Peshawar securing the top position among 43 institutions.

According to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Universities Ranking 2026, Hazara University, Mansehra ranked second with a relative score of 95.02, while Pak Austria Fachhochschule-IAST Haripur secured third place with a score of 91.28.

The University of Malakand ranked fourth, followed by the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar in fifth place. GIK Institute, Swabi, Khyber Medical University and Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan also featured among the top-performing institutions.

The ranking placed Kohat University of Science and Technology ninth and the University of Swat tenth.

At the lower end of the rankings, the University of Shangla ranked last among institutions that submitted data, with a relative score of 8.61. Preston University Kohat was listed separately after failing to submit the required data for assessment.

The rankings provide a comparative assessment of public and private universities across the province based on various performance indicators and institutional metrics.
