UAE Royal Family Members Robbed of £600,000 Jewellery in London

An Algerian immigrant gang stole £600,000 worth of jewellery from three members of Abu Dhabi’s royal Nahyan family outside London’s St Pancras station on October 16, 2025, immediately after they arrived on the Eurostar.

The royal victims were Roda Al Nahyan, her mother Shamsa, and Najla Al Qubaisi — all part of the ruling dynasty of Abu Dhabi and the UAE’s leading family, worth over £250 billion.

The thieves, Abdel Aitkebir (35) and Medhi Fatih (41), snatched three suitcases containing the jewellery when the victims’ taxi driver was distracted by an unidentified man. They fled into the night at 11pm. None of the jewellery was recovered. Aitkebir sold it for just £10,000 (1.7% of its value) to a south London market trader.

Both robbers were jailed yesterday: Aitkebir for two years and six months, Fatih for two years and three months. Their co-conspirator Faysal Benoumechiara (27) was also imprisoned for five separate thefts worth £81,000.

WhatsApp messages revealed the gang came to the UK specifically to steal, stating “This country is where the money is”. CCTV showed them loitering outside St Pancras, targeting wealthy passengers.
