Transporters End Strike as Karachi Administration Accepts Key Demands

The Karachi Transport Alliance has called off its strike following successful negotiations with the Karachi commissioner aimed at resolving key issues facing the transport sector.

According to sources, the meeting resulted in the acceptance of transporters’ demand for a two-month extension regarding the biometric verification process required during vehicle ownership transfers.

Authorities also assured transport representatives that concerns related to the Rs12,000 third-party insurance fee would be addressed through further discussions and administrative measures.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on several transport-related issues and agreed to hold another session in 15 days to review progress on the commitments made.

Sources said the Karachi Transport Alliance will soon convene a consultative meeting with its member organizations to discuss the government’s assurances and determine the future course of action.

The decision to end the strike is expected to provide relief to commuters and businesses that rely on public and commercial transport services across the city.
