Opposition MNA Wants First Telecom Tower to be Installed at IT Minister’s Home

An opposition Member of the National Assembly (MNA) has suggested that IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja should have the first telecom tower installed at her own residence as a symbolic start to the implementation of the controversial Telecom Infrastructure bill.

In a sarcastic comment directed at the bill, the lawmaker said that if such rules are enforced, the first tower should logically be placed at the IT minister’s home.

The remark was made during a parliamentary session while debating legislation that would allow telecom companies to install towers on private property.

Under the proposed law which is for now stuck at Senate, refusal to permit installation could result in a penalty of up to Rs. 5 crore.

Everyone laughed on the floor of the House.

The bill, which has already been approved by the National Assembly, is now awaiting consideration in the Senate. It has faced criticism from lawmakers over concerns related to private property rights and regulatory overreach.

  • Stupid pmln government, first should be installed in nawaz, shabaz, maryam, zardari and chief of army staff’s residence. These towers pose serious threat to public health as they emit radiation and are a cause of cancers.
Shame on this government and establishment

    • No they don’t edit any such thing.

But they do create issues as private property is not a mobile tower and kids can get busy or your own activities might damage it or companies might force you to pay damages despite no fault from you

    • I think respected lady, you jumped overboard. Ppp stalled this bill at Senate.
