Pakistan Key Batter Likely to Miss West Indies and England Test Tours

Pakistan middle-order batter Saud Shakeel is doubtful for the upcoming Test tours of the West Indies and England due to ongoing fitness concerns.

Saud Shakeel is currently undergoing rehabilitation as part of his recovery process. Medical staff are closely monitoring his progress, while his availability for selection remains uncertain as the team management continues to assess his fitness ahead of the tours.

Pakistan’s selectors may be forced to include a replacement middle-order batter in the ongoing red-ball training camp in Lahore if Shakeel fails to recover in time.

The injury concerns could lead to further changes in the Test squad, with selectors reportedly facing the possibility of making multiple adjustments due to fitness-related setbacks.

Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan was also reported to be dealing with a fitness concern. In his absence, Rohail Nazir has been added to the red-ball training camp.

Pakistan’s red-ball camp for the West Indies and England tours is currently underway in Lahore, where players are taking part in scenario-based match simulations at the LCCA Ground.

The team is expected to depart for the West Indies on July 13. Pakistan will play a four-day warm-up match starting July 18 before beginning the Test series in Trinidad and Tobago.

The two Tests in Trinidad and Tobago are scheduled to be played from July 25 to 29 and August 2 to 6.

Pakistan’s Test tour of England will begin on August 19 at Headingley in Leeds. The second Test is scheduled for August 27 at Lord’s, while the third Test will be played at Edgbaston in Birmingham from September 9.
