Pakistan Post has warned employees against sharing unauthorized information on social media and announced strict action against staff found violating office discipline, while also dismissing reports about privatization and downsizing as false.
In a circular issued by headquarters on June 22, 2026, the department said some employees were posting unauthorized material and commenting on internal matters online without prior approval. It said such activity was a violation of the Civil Servants Conduct Rules, 2026.
The Directorate General has directed all postmaster generals to closely monitor the social media activity of their subordinate staff and take immediate departmental action against employees involved in unauthorized posts, objectionable content, or political activity.
The circular also raised concern over other discipline-related issues, including employees visiting the directorate general without a no-objection certificate, remaining absent without authorization, and failing to follow punctuality rules.
All postmaster generals have been told to ensure strict compliance with attendance, punctuality, and office discipline, with action also set to be taken against officers found negligent in enforcing these instructions.
At the same time, Pakistan Post has rejected speculation surrounding the future of the department. Director General Maqsood Ahmed strongly denied reports of privatization and retrenchment, calling such claims fabricated and baseless.
He said the department had instead launched a comprehensive reform program aimed at improving financial stability and expanding digital services for customers.
The latest communication suggests Pakistan Post is trying to tighten internal discipline while also pushing back against uncertainty over its restructuring, insisting that reforms are focused on strengthening the organization rather than winding it down.
