The widow of a martyred Pakistan Navy officer has joined the service as a commissioned officer, in a development being widely seen as a powerful example of courage and resolve.
According to reports, Alveera Hamza, widow of martyred Lieutenant Commander Hamza Abid, has received a commission in the Pakistan Navy and joined its Information Technology branch.
Her achievement was further highlighted by her performance during training, where she was awarded the Commandant Gold Medal.
Alveera’s induction has drawn praise for turning personal tragedy into national service. Her journey has been described as one of determination, resilience, and commitment to carrying forward the spirit of sacrifice.
Speaking about her decision, she said the martyrdom of her husband inspired her to join the Pakistan Navy. She said his sacrifice gave her the strength to serve the country and follow the path of dedication he had chosen.
She also said that wearing a uniform similar to the one once worn by her late husband, and standing in the same institution, was a moment of great pride for both her and her daughter.
