Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has become Pakistan’s first province to launch an integrated 911 emergency helpline, providing citizens with a single platform to contact multiple emergency response services.
The Pakhtunkhwa Emergency Helpline (PHEL) 911 was officially inaugurated by Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Home and Tribal Affairs Tariq Saeed Marwat.
The service will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and initially connect callers with the police, Rescue 1122, domestic violence support services, tourist assistance, and emergency response for natural hazards.
Project Director Rifaqat Khan said trial operations began in March 2026, and the helpline had already received 4.7 million calls by June 15, although many were non-emergency or prank calls.
He urged the public to use the service responsibly so that people in genuine distress can receive timely assistance.
Officials said the integrated emergency system also supports an SOS module and aims to improve coordination among first responders while strengthening public trust in emergency services.
Authorities plan to expand the platform by integrating additional emergency agencies in the future.
The KP government said the launch marks a major step toward modernising emergency response and improving public safety across the province.
