Lahore Traffic Police Warn Drivers of License Suspension

Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi has ordered the suspension of driving licenses for motorists involved in fatal accidents, nonfatal crashes, and reckless driving as part of a crackdown aimed at reducing traffic accidents in the city.

Under the new directive, Lahore Traffic Police will suspend the licenses of drivers whose negligence, carelessness, or irresponsible driving causes accidents. Depending on the severity of the offense, authorities can suspend licenses for six months to three years.

The CTO said drivers involved in fatal accidents will only be able to restore their licenses after obtaining an order from the relevant court. He also warned that police will register criminal cases against anyone found driving with a suspended license.

Shirazi said serious traffic violations not only break the law but also endanger human lives, adding that Lahore Traffic Police will not tolerate reckless driving.

He said the department is strengthening enforcement of traffic laws under a zero tolerance policy to improve road safety, reduce accidents, and protect the lives and property of citizens.

The CTO urged motorists to follow traffic rules, obey speed limits, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles, and drive responsibly to help make Lahore’s roads safer.
