PTA is Upgrading DIRBS for Easier Device Registration

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced that it is upgrading its Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS) to improve services for both the general public and commercial entities.

According to the authority, the upgraded DIRBS has been developed in-house and is designed to simplify the device registration process for all users. The system upgrade is part of PTA’s ongoing efforts to improve the platform’s efficiency and overall user experience.

PTA said the enhanced system will provide a more streamlined and user-friendly device registration process for individuals as well as commercial entities.

As part of the upgrade, the DIRBS portal (dirbs.pta.gov.pk) and all related services will remain temporarily unavailable from 5:00 PM on July 3, 2026, until 4:00 AM on July 6, 2026.

During this period, users and commercial entities will not be able to access the DIRBS portal or use any of its related services.

PTA expressed regret for the temporary inconvenience caused by the scheduled maintenance and thanked end users and commercial entities for their cooperation and understanding during the essential system upgradation.

The authority also advised all stakeholders to plan their device registration activities accordingly until the upgraded services are restored.
