The Punjab government has expanded its electric bus network by launching services on 13 new routes across six districts, extending modern public transport to more cities, towns, and tehsils across the province.
According to an official statement, the new electric bus services have been introduced in Khanewal, Khushab, Bhakkar, Attock, Mandi Bahauddin, and Hafizabad. The government said 400 electric buses are currently operating across 18 districts of Punjab, while work is underway to induct 1,500 electric buses into the province’s public transport fleet.
It added that another 212 electric buses for 20 additional districts have already arrived in Pakistan. Under the latest expansion, 15 electric buses have been deployed in Khushab, operating on routes from the General Bus Stand to Girot Chowk, Mitha Tiwana, and Mangowal.
In Khanewal, nine electric buses have been introduced on the Khanewal-Jahanian and Kabirwala routes. In Bhakkar, nine buses are operating between the General Bus Stand and Darya Khan, and the General Bus Stand and Behal.
In Attock, commuters can now travel on the POF Sanjwal-Hazro and Hakimabad-Attock Khurd routes. In Mandi Bahauddin, the buses are serving the Kathiala Sheikhan-Rasul Village and College Chowk-Manoo Chak routes.
Meanwhile, Hafizabad has received nine electric buses operating between Jinnah Chowk (Inter-City) and Ghora Chowk-Jalalpur Bhattian.
