Sialkot is set to launch an electric bus service later this month, offering residents a cleaner, more affordable, and environmentally friendly public transport option on two major routes.
According to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, the first phase of the project will include 10 electric buses, with four operating between Sialkot and Daska and six serving the Sialkot Pasrur route.
Deputy Commissioner Saba Asghar Ali said the buses have already arrived in the city, while the charging infrastructure has been installed ahead of the official launch.
To support the new service, authorities have established 46 bus shelters across the district. Officials will also finalize and geo tag designated bus stops on both routes to improve accessibility and ensure smooth operations.
The District Regional Transport Authority (DRTA) estimates the service will benefit around 10,000 passengers daily by improving public transportation, lowering travel costs, and promoting sustainable mobility.
