Fake Punjab E-Bike Scheme Portal Goes Viral

A website claiming to be the official portal for the CM Punjab Electric Bike Scheme 2026 has gone viral on social media.

However, several signs suggest it is not an official government website and users should exercise caution before entering any personal information.

The website, hosted at e-bikescheme.pk, presents itself as an information portal for the Punjab government’s electric bike initiative. However, a closer look reveals numerous suspicious elements that raise serious questions about its authenticity.

One of the biggest red flags is the presence of random, unrelated keywords embedded throughout the website’s text, including phrases such as “Teen Patti,” “Bro444Game,” “y999,” “Play_pkr,” and similar terms. Clicking these words redirects visitors to third-party websites promoting online games and platforms claiming to offer real-money earnings.

Such content has no apparent connection to the Punjab government’s e-bike scheme and is inconsistent with how official government portals are designed and maintained.

The portal also lacks clear government ownership details and does not appear to be linked from any verified Punjab government website. While it displays statistics and scheme-related information, the presence of suspicious outbound links makes its legitimacy highly questionable.

The Punjab government has indeed announced a major expansion of its electric bike program. Under the initiative, 100,000 electric bikes will be distributed over the next year with a Rs. 70,000 subsidy per bike.

Male students will pay a Rs. 14,000 down payment followed by interest-free monthly installments of Rs. 2,100, while the government will cover the down payment and registration fee for women students, leaving them to pay only the monthly installment.

The scheme will later be extended to government employees as part of Punjab’s broader green transport initiative.

However, the government has not yet launched an official online registration portal or announced the complete application procedure.

Until official details are released through verified Punjab government channels, applicants are advised to avoid unofficial websites and refrain from submitting personal or financial information on suspicious portals.
