60 students were hospitalized after reportedly suffering heatstroke during a photoshoot at a private school in Shikarpur, where children were allegedly made to stand in the scorching sun for an extended period despite the ongoing summer vacations.
According to local media reports, the incident occurred as temperatures remained extremely high across parts of Sindh, with several districts experiencing heatwave conditions.
The school had reportedly called students to campus for a photoshoot even though educational institutions were closed for summer holidays.
The prolonged exposure to intense sunlight proved too much for the children, causing dozens of them to faint during the event.
The affected students were immediately shifted to the Civil Hospital in Shikarpur, where they received medical treatment. Hospital officials said more than 60 children were brought in, including 46 girls and 14 boys.
Doctors later confirmed that all of the students are now out of danger after receiving timely medical care.
Following the incident, authorities launched an investigation to determine why the private school was operating during the summer break and on a weekly holiday. Officials are also looking into why students were allegedly kept outdoors in extreme heat for the photoshoot, resulting in such a large number of heatstroke cases.
