Murree Police have advised tourists to avoid using the Old GT Road as major road carpeting and repair work continues, urging visitors to travel via the Murree Expressway and other alternative routes instead.
In a traffic advisory, District Police Officer (DPO) Murree Dr. Raza Tanveer said the Murree Expressway is currently the safest and recommended route for entering the hill station. He added that the diversion of traffic from the Old GT Road has increased pressure on the Expressway.
To manage the flow of vehicles, police have deployed additional personnel and prioritized traffic management on Bustan Mor, Masiari Link Road and Jhika Gali Road to improve access to central Murree and popular tourist destinations.
The DPO also advised tourists to check live traffic conditions on Google Maps before and during their journey. He encouraged visitors to download the Safe Tourism Murree mobile application, which provides real time updates on traffic conditions, weather, parking availability and emergency assistance.
