PMD Forecasts Rain in Multiple Parts of Pakistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain accompanied by wind and thundershowers in Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Punjab, eastern Sindh and Gilgit Baltistan from Monday evening through Tuesday.

According to the Met Office, hot and humid weather is expected to persist across most parts of the country despite the incoming weather system.

The PMD has warned that heavy rainfall could trigger landslides in vulnerable areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir. Flash flooding is also expected in local streams and nullahs in these regions.

During the last 24 hours, rain with wind and thundershowers was reported in parts of upper Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Barkhan in Balochistan and Gilgit Baltistan.

The highest rainfall was recorded in Okara with 29 mm, followed by Narowal with 23 mm and Sahiwal with 19 mm. Other areas, including Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Gilgit and Skardu, also received rainfall.
