Mazhar Abbas, a highly educated sanitation worker from Gujranwala, has secured a job in the Finance Department after his story went viral as a symbol of youth unemployment.
Abbas, a graduate of Sargodha University, had been working under the Suthra Punjab scheme despite holding a stenography certificate and an associate engineering diploma.
His fluent English, educational background and technical training drew public attention after media reports highlighted his struggle to find a job that matched his qualifications.

Following public appeals and media coverage, authorities offered Abbas a respectable administrative position suitable for his skills and academic record.
The development has received praise from citizens, who said educated youth should get employment opportunities according to their abilities. Many social media users had earlier urged the government to support Abbas and provide him with a suitable office-based role.
Abbas’ case also highlighted the broader issue of unemployment among educated young people in Punjab, where many graduates continue to accept low-paid jobs due to limited opportunities.
His new appointment in the Finance Department has now turned his story into an example of how timely public attention and institutional response can help deserving candidates find better career paths.
