The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) issued tickets to more than 66,000 traffic violators, impounded nearly 10,000 vehicles, and registered 379 First Information Reports (FIRs) during a month long crackdown aimed at improving road discipline in the federal capital.
The special enforcement campaign was launched on the directions of Inspector General of Police Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi to curb traffic violations, illegal parking, and reckless driving.
During the operation, traffic police impounded 6,562 motorcycles and 3,285 vehicles, while 379 FIRs were registered against motorists involved in serious traffic offenses that endangered public safety.
According to the ITP, illegal parking was the most common violation, with 10,846 cases recorded. Authorities also issued tickets for 7,625 lane violations and 7,150 vehicles with nonstandard license plates.
The campaign also resulted in action against 5,105 overloaded vehicles, 4,392 wrong way drivers, and 4,392 motorcyclists riding without helmets, in addition to thousands of other traffic violations.
