The Ministry of Interior has issued new guidelines barring Pakistani dual nationals with expired or cancelled National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOPs) from entering the country, according to reports.
The new rule applies to passengers arriving from all countries and requires travellers to carry either a valid NICOP or a Pakistani visa along with a foreign passport. The Express Tribune and Daily Pakistan reported the development.
Officials said the ministry has informed all airlines about the revised policy and directed them not to allow such passengers to board flights to Pakistan. The Ministry of Interior has also notified immigration authorities, and the new guidelines are already in effect at airports across the country.
FIA officials said passengers who arrive with expired or cancelled NICOPs will be returned on the next available flight. They added that airlines previously carried some travellers with expired or cancelled NICOPs, but authorities now want strict enforcement of the updated travel requirements.
