Sindh Police has introduced a new media policy requiring all officers to obtain approval from the Inspector General of Police before speaking to the media in an official capacity.
Under the new rules, officers cannot take part in media briefings, interviews, podcasts, television or radio programs, or press conferences without prior permission from the IG Sindh.
They must also restrict their comments to the approved agenda and talking points.
The circular warns that unauthorized media interactions can damage the institution’s reputation and violate official policy. It also strictly prohibits sharing information related to ongoing investigations, intelligence matters, or operational issues.
Sindh Police said the policy aims to ensure legal compliance and protect the force’s credibility. Supervisory officers have been directed to ensure strict implementation, while the circular warns of departmental action against anyone who violates the media rules.
Similar social media and conduct-related restrictions have been reported in recent Sindh Police directives, including guidance documented by The Express Tribune and the Pakistan Press Foundation.
