How to Apply for Punjab’s ‘Apni Chhat, Mehfooz Chhat’ Loan Scheme

The Punjab government has launched the “Apni Chhat, Mehfooz Chhat” portal, allowing eligible residents to apply for interest-free loans to strengthen unsafe roofs or expand their homes.

The initiative, launched by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, was introduced in memory of the children who lost their lives in the Kahna roof collapse tragedy.

Loan Amount

Under the scheme, eligible applicants can receive:

• Up to Rs. 500,000 as an interest-free loan to repair, strengthen, or secure their home’s roof.
• Up to Rs. 1 million as an interest-free loan to build an additional room or construct a second story.

Monthly Installments

To make the program more affordable, the government has reduced the monthly installment from Rs. 14,000 to between Rs. 4,700 and Rs. 9,300, depending on the loan amount.

How to Apply

Applicants can submit their applications through any of the following methods:

• Apply online at acag.punjab.gov.pk
• Visit the office of your Deputy Commissioner (DC)
• Visit your local Assistant Commissioner (AC) office
• Apply through the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA)

According to the Punjab government, more than 173,000 interest-free loans worth over Rs. 224.4 billion have already been disbursed under the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” housing program.
