The Punjab government has launched the “Apni Chhat, Mehfooz Chhat” portal, allowing eligible residents to apply for interest-free loans to strengthen unsafe roofs or expand their homes.
The initiative, launched by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, was introduced in memory of the children who lost their lives in the Kahna roof collapse tragedy.

To make the program more affordable, the government has reduced the monthly installment from Rs. 14,000 to between Rs. 4,700 and Rs. 9,300, depending on the loan amount.

According to the Punjab government, more than 173,000 interest-free loans worth over Rs. 224.4 billion have already been disbursed under the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” housing program.
