8 Pakistani Women Summit 6,040-Meter Khusar Gang Peak

A team of eight Pakistani women climbers has successfully summited the 6,040-meter-high Khusar Gang Peak during the Alpine Club of Pakistan’s second women’s expedition to the mountain.

The achievement marks an important milestone for women’s mountaineering in Pakistan and reflects the growing participation of female climbers in challenging high-altitude expeditions.

Led by Bibi Afzoon, the team brought together climbers from Gilgit-Baltistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Islamabad, highlighting the presence of mountaineering talent across different parts of the country.

The climbers received technical support from renowned high-altitude guides Ali Muhammad Sadpara, Sadiq Hussain Sadpara, and Ilyas Hushe throughout the ascent. Qaid Shigri was responsible for fixing ropes along the route, which supported the team’s safe progress toward the summit.

Alpine Club of Pakistan Secretary General Ayaz Shigri congratulated the climbers and said their success demonstrated the courage, determination, and professional abilities of Pakistani women.

He described the successful expedition as a significant step toward promoting women’s participation in mountaineering and said the Alpine Club would continue creating opportunities for female climbers to showcase their skills at national and international levels.
