Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has launched the Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based Prime Minister’s Office System (PMOS), a digital platform designed to record, communicate, monitor, and track every directive issued by the premier from issuance to implementation and post-completion review.
The prime minister praised Information Technology Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja and the IT secretary for developing and operationalizing the platform, saying it would improve coordination across government and make public service delivery more efficient.
Officials briefing the prime minister said PMOS is Pakistan’s first government platform to integrate artificial intelligence as a core component of decision-making and implementation monitoring. Developed at the center of government, the system is designed to ensure directives are communicated efficiently across ministries while tracking their implementation against defined timelines and quality standards.
The platform also functions as a secure decision-support system by combining analytics with structured government information in a protected IT environment. At its core is a digital repository that records every directive issued by the prime minister along with its complete implementation trail, creating a permanent institutional record of government decisions.
Unlike conventional government tracking systems, PMOS uses artificial intelligence to read, classify, and analyze directives rather than simply storing them. According to officials, the platform will also support continuous policy calibration by helping the government make better use of technological, financial, and human resources to improve economic outcomes.
Background: The launch of PMOS is part of the federal government’s broader digital transformation agenda, which aims to modernize public administration, improve accountability, and reduce reliance on manual processes. Pakistan has increasingly expanded the use of digital platforms for public services in recent years, while the government has also identified artificial intelligence as a priority technology under its wider Digital Pakistan initiatives.
By introducing the AI-based platform at the Prime Minister’s Office, the government intends to test governance reforms at the highest level before gradually extending the system across the federal administrative structure.
