PMD Forecasts Widespread Rain, Thunderstorms Across Pakistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain accompanied by wind and thunderstorms in several parts of the country over the next four to six hours.

According to the latest weather advisory issued at 3:40 PM PST on July 21, 2026, rain with strong winds and thunderstorms is expected in parts of Punjab, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Lahore, Kasur, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, and Bahawalnagar and surrounding areas.

The PMD said similar weather conditions are also likely in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, Swabi, Charsadda, Waziristan, Kalam, Karak, Tank, Swat, Nowshera, Kohat, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, and nearby areas.

In Balochistan, rain and thunderstorms are expected in Quetta, Zhob, Musakhel, Barkhan and adjoining areas. Parts of Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan are also likely to receive rain during the forecast period.

The Met Office warned that heavy rainfall may occur at isolated locations, which could trigger flash flooding in local streams and low-lying areas. The PMD has advised the public to take necessary precautions and stay updated with the latest weather advisories.
