Garmin’s First Screenless Smart Band Needs No Subscription Like Whoop

Garmin has launched CIRQA, its first screenless smart band for users who want health and fitness tracking without wearing another display on their wrist.

The smart band is priced at $199.99 and tracks wellness and workout data through the Garmin Connect app. Garmin says CIRQA offers up to 10 days of battery life and does not require a subscription for its core health and fitness features, unlike rival fitness bands including Whoop.

It is designed as a lightweight tracker that can be worn on the wrist or as an armband, depending on the activity or sleep preference. Garmin says the fabric band is made for all-day comfort and will be available in several colors, including French Gray, Mauve, Captain Blue, and Black.

The device uses 14mm quick-release fabric straps and relies entirely on the Garmin Connect app to view stats, adjust settings, and review workouts.

Health and Sleep Tracking

CIRQA includes 24/7 health monitoring through sensors for heart rate, Pulse Ox, skin temperature, stress, respiration, and other wellness metrics.

It also supports Garmin’s Body Battery energy monitoring, HRV status, sleep stages, sleep score, nap detection, and recovery-related insights. Garmin says women can also use overnight skin temperature data for better period predictions and past ovulation estimates. The data can sync with the FDA-cleared Natural Cycles app, but that app requires a separate subscription.

Fitness Features

The smart band can automatically detect and record activities without needing a screen.

Users can review and edit those activity logs in Garmin Connect, and Garmin says the band will adapt over time based on user corrections. CIRQA also supports manual tracking for more than 80 activities, including running, walking, and yoga. A single side button can be used as a shortcut to start a favorite activity.

The device also supports Garmin metrics such as VO2 Max, Training Readiness, Training Status, workout benefit, and recovery time.

No Built-In GPS

The Garmin CIRQA does not include built-in GPS.

Instead, it uses Connected GPS, meaning users need to carry a paired iPhone or Android phone to track distance and location during outdoor walks, runs, or rides. It also supports LiveTrack location sharing when used with a smartphone and the Garmin Connect app.

Battery and Subscription

Garmin says CIRQA can last up to 10 days on a single charge.

Most key health and fitness features work through the free Garmin Connect app without a mandatory monthly subscription. That gives it a different pitch from subscription-heavy rivals such as Whoop, while still competing in the same screenless fitness tracker category.

However, some extra software features remain tied to Garmin’s optional Garmin Connect+ subscription.

Price and Availability

The Garmin CIRQA is priced at $199.99.

It comes in two sizes, S-M and L-XL, with multiple fabric band color options. .
