Two Pakistani Cities Ranked Safer Than Several Major Global Cities

Islamabad has recorded the lowest Crime Index among Pakistan’s major cities in the latest Numbeo Crime Index 2026 Mid-Year rankings, making it the country’s safest city in the survey.

According to the latest data published by Numbeo, Islamabad recorded a Crime Index of 30.8, followed by Lahore at 36.2, Rawalpindi at 52.0, and Karachi at 57.6. The rankings compare perceived crime levels across more than 400 cities worldwide based on user-contributed surveys collected by Numbeo.

Lahore and Islamabad also ranked ahead of several internationally known cities in the Crime Index, including Mexico City, Dhaka, Washington, Kuala Lumpur, New Delhi, Paris, Tehran, London, Los Angeles, Jakarta, New York, Cairo, Istanbul, Rome, Berlin, Mumbai, Toronto, and Bangkok, indicating a lower reported crime level than those cities.

The Numbeo Crime Index is based on user-contributed survey responses and reflects public perceptions of crime rather than official crime statistics.

It incorporates responses on overall crime levels, perceived safety while walking alone during the day and at night, concerns about crimes such as robbery, theft and assault, as well as perceptions of property crime, violent crime and corruption.
