The Dumpers Association has rejected the government’s proposal to revise petroleum product prices daily, warning that the move could seriously disrupt the transport sector.
Association President Haji Liaquat Mehsud said frequent fuel price changes would create uncertainty for transport operators and businesses.
He warned that the proposed policy could affect transport fares, construction work and the supply of essential goods, while also increasing the financial burden on the public.
Mehsud urged the government to withdraw the proposal and introduce a stable and practical pricing mechanism for petroleum products. He also cautioned that the association would announce its next course of action if authorities do not reconsider the plan.
The warning came after the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) increased petrol and high-speed diesel prices for one day on Wednesday.
OGRA raised petrol by Rs6.39 per litre to Rs327.12 and diesel by Rs7.83 per litre to Rs375.04. The revised rates took effect from midnight and will remain in force for one day.
Separately, the All Pakistan Petrol Pumps Association postponed its planned nationwide strike after Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik assured dealers that their concerns would be addressed. The association said the issue of dealer margins is expected to be resolved within two weeks.
