Sindh Approves Annual Sports Calendar Featuring Major Events

The Sindh government has approved its annual sports calendar for the new financial year 2025-26, featuring a wide range of provincial, traditional, inclusive, and community-based sporting events.

According to Sindh Sports Minister Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mahar, the 19th Sindh Games will be held in Sukkur in November, while Shaheed Benazirabad will host the Sindh Pink Games and Special Games in October.

Karachi will host an esports championship in November, followed by the Sindh Beach Games in December. The Thar Jeep Rally is scheduled for February 2027.

The calendar also includes the Lyari Sports Festival in April and the Pink Football Championship in May. A donkey cart race will be held in Karachi in June 2027.

Traditional sporting events have also been included in the calendar. All Pakistan Malakhra competitions will be organized in Bhit Shah in July during the Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.

A mega Malakhra event will be held in Sachal Goth, Karachi, in October, while Thatta will host the Kohistan bullock cart race in November. Hyderabad will organize the Iqbal Day Sports Festival and a chess championship.

Shaheed Benazirabad will also host Malakhra and Kabaddi tournaments during the Urs of Sakhi Jam Datar. An All Pakistan Malakhra competition will be held in February 2027 during the Urs of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.

The sports minister said the government has expanded sporting activities to include transgender people, persons with disabilities, university students, and prisoners.

Competitions in Malakhra, Kodi Kodi, Kabaddi, and shooting ball will be organized across the province. Street Children Games will also be held, featuring football, cricket, gilli danda, and tug-of-war.

The provincial government has also decided to provide financial support to different sports associations.

The minister said the new calendar is aimed at promoting healthy activities and supporting emerging athletes so they can represent Sindh and Pakistan at national and international levels.
