The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has ordered an investigation into the Rs. 8.5 billion in advance payments made under Karachi’s BRT Yellow Line project, directing its Karachi office to examine whether the funds were utilized according to the project’s requirements.
According to sources, the Chairman NAB has instructed the Director General of NAB Karachi to investigate the advance payments made to contractors under the Yellow Line project and determine whether the payments were justified.
The inquiry will review the work completed after the advance payments were released, assess whether contractual obligations were fulfilled, and examine the circumstances surrounding the disbursement of the funds.
The development follows the earlier arrest of former BRT Yellow Line Project Director Zamir Abbasi from Lahore over allegations related to the Rs. 8.5 billion advance payments made to contractors.
NAB’s investigation is expected to determine whether any financial irregularities occurred in the execution of the Karachi BRT Yellow Line project and whether further legal action is warranted.
