UET Lahore has rejected claims that its recent disciplinary action was linked to students raising concerns or expressing disagreement with the administration.
The university said each case was reviewed separately by the relevant committees. Decisions were made after checking available evidence, including CCTV footage, witness statements, written replies and social media records.
Over the past 21 months, 43 students were investigated in different cases. Nine were expelled, 13 were suspended for one semester and 14 received financial penalties. Seven students were cleared due to a lack of evidence.
According to UET, students were allowed to present their side before a final decision was made. Those who were punished can also challenge the decision before the university’s appellate committee.
The university also clarified that action involving hostel residents was related to violations of accommodation rules and was not connected to political or academic activity.
UET Lahore said it supports peaceful discussion and responsible expression but will continue taking action in cases involving violence, harassment, intimidation, disorder or misinformation.
