Punjab Announces Fine for Motorcyclists Without Indicators

Punjab Traffic Police has launched a public awareness campaign urging motorcyclists to install and use indicators, highlighting both safety concerns and financial penalties for violations.

The campaign emphasizes that riding a motorcycle without functional indicators can result in a fine of Rs. 2000, while installing indicators costs around Rs. 400. According to the awareness material, lack of indicators increases the risk of accidents and poses a danger to both riders and other road users.

The campaign also stresses that proper use of indicators helps maintain lane discipline and improves overall traffic flow on busy roads. Traffic Police Punjab has advised motorcyclists to ensure their bikes are properly equipped and to follow traffic rules to avoid penalties and ensure safer travel.

The development comes days after the Punjab Assembly approved amendments to reduce traffic fines across the province. Under the revised law, fines for certain motorcycle violations have been lowered from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 1,000, with the maximum penalty capped at Rs. 2,000, while fines for cars and jeeps have also been reduced for minor offences.

Despite the reduction in fines, traffic police officials said enforcement against violations will continue, with a focus on improving road discipline and reducing accidents.

I have noticed that in these days some buses or trucks install heavy white lights instead of red lights on back side, this act is also dangerous and make blind following drivers.

  • It’s not giving traffic violation tickets but forced loot of the public by Punjab Police. Violations are charged like Dubai and facilities are of Somalia or Uganda .
