Himalayan Ibex with 45-Inch Horns Hunted in Chitral for Rs. 320,000

A national hunter has successfully hunted a trophy-sized Himalayan ibex in the Arkari Valley of Chitral under a legal permit issued through open bidding, according to the Chitral Wildlife Division.

Officials said the hunter, Zeerak Zaman, secured the permit by participating in a competitive bidding process, paying close to Rs. 320,000, which covered all associated costs, including the big game hunting permit.

The ibex measured 45 inches in horn length and was estimated to be 11 years old, qualifying it as a large trophy specimen.

Authorities said such regulated hunting programs are conducted under strict guidelines, with permits issued through open bidding to ensure transparency and generate revenue for wildlife conservation.

Officials added that funds generated through trophy hunting are typically utilized for conservation efforts and to support local communities in the region.
