Three workers were killed after suffering a severe electric shock while carrying out maintenance work at the Sher Shah Toll Plaza on Shujaabad Road in Multan.
According to initial reports, the workers had climbed onto the steel roof of the toll plaza to repair lighting fixtures. After completing the work, they were moving a metal ladder back to a storage area when it reportedly came into contact with overhead power lines.
The contact sent a powerful electric current through the ladder, killing all three workers on the spot.
Rescue officials said emergency teams provided first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation before shifting the victims to Nishtar Hospital, where doctors were unable to revive them.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Qayyum, 23, Ameen, 38, and Atif, 23.
Rescue 1122 officials said the incident appeared to be the result of negligence and a failure to follow safety precautions while handling a metal ladder near live electricity wires.
