The Sindh government has announced public holidays across the province on June 25 and 26, 2026, in observance of Ashura.
According to a notification issued by the Services, General Administration and Coordination Department (SGA&CD), Thursday and Friday, corresponding to the 9th and 10th of Muharram-ul-Haram 1448 AH, will be observed as public holidays.
The holidays will apply to all provincial government offices, autonomous bodies, semi-autonomous bodies, corporations and local councils operating under the administrative control of the Sindh government.
However, essential services will remain exempt from the holiday notification and continue to function as usual.
The announcement comes as authorities across Sindh finalize security and administrative arrangements for Muharram processions and gatherings scheduled to take place during Ashura.
