The Punjab government has approved the creation of the province’s first anti-drone unit and allocated Rs3 billion for the project.
The unit will combine radar detection, signal-jamming, directed-energy capabilities and rapid mobile response teams. Six radar installations will monitor low-to-medium altitude airspace for unmanned aerial vehicles, while jamming systems will disrupt drone control and navigation signals to force rogue aircraft to land or render them inoperable.
Directed-energy systems will be deployed to neutralize particularly hazardous drones, and mobile response teams will carry out immediate interception operations and provide on-the-spot protection for sensitive sites and public events.
Officials say the layered approach is intended to strengthen security around high-risk locations and to offer a quick, effective response to unauthorized or threatening drone activity.
