The Murree district administration on Tuesday issued a special advisory for tourists planning to visit Murree, Galiyat, and nearby areas due to an expected spell of rain and snowfall. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, rain and snowfall are expected to continue until January 2 in the region.
In the advisory, the administration urged tourists to check weather updates through print, electronic, and social media before traveling. Officials directed visitors to use tire chains in snow-covered areas, maintain proper tire pressure, and ensure fuel tanks are full before starting their journey.
The administration instructed tourists to follow traffic police directions and adhere to the approved traffic management plan to avoid congestion and ensure smooth movement. Officials also reminded visitors to comply with standard operating procedures and observe guidelines related to environmentally friendly tourism.
Tourists facing emergencies or difficulties have been advised to seek assistance from facilitation centers set up by the administration.
Deputy Commissioner Murree Agha Zahir Abbas Shirazi said ensuring the safety and convenience of tourists remains the administration’s top priority. He urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel during adverse weather conditions and to prioritize safety.
He added that officers and staff from all relevant departments are deployed in the field to assist tourists. The district administration has also established help desks at designated locations to provide information on routes, weather conditions, and other essential matters.
