5 Food Items You Should Cut Out Of Your Life Completely

The key to a healthy life is moderation. 2 out of 5 people who decide to diet abandon their diet because moving towards a healthier lifestyle is easier said than done. Abandoning old eating habits and replacing them isn’t as easy as it sounds. It requires a lot of willpower and constant effort.

One way of doing this right is to introduce small incremental changes instead of completely cutting off your bad eating habits. Incremental changes lead to long-term success and ultimately helps you lose weight.

If you want to lose weight or want to move towards a healthier lifestyle, try to avoid the following 5 food:

  1. Processed Meat
  2. Sweetened Breakfast cereal
  3. Carbonated and sugary drinks
  4. White bread
  5. Microwave popcorn

1. Processed Meat

Currently, people are consuming twice the amount of processed meat as compared to 10 years ago. The easy availability makes it easier to consume. Processed meat either chicken or beef is very high in sodium. The concentration of sodium is more than the daily recommended amount.

It is very harmful to people who suffer from blood pressure diseases.  The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has categorized processed meat as a carcinogen, meaning it is something that has been known to cause cancer.

2. Sweetened Breakfast Cereal

All breakfast cereals claim that they have all the right ingredients so you can start your day eating something healthy. But let’s face it, breakfast cereals are just empty calories sugar-coated with fancy words so you don’t feel too bad about eating unhealthy. Although they have a lot of added minerals and vitamins, they still have several shortcomings. Instead of starting your day with a bowl of cereal, it’s better that you have a glass of milkshake or have eggs or maybe just plain yogurt.

3. Carbonated and Sugary Drinks:

Whether the drink you are having is diet or not, it still remains very unhealthy because of its contents. Regular carbonated drinks or sodas are loaded with sugar and caffeine. It may pair up perfectly with your fast food but in the long term, it has many disadvantages linked to its consumption. They affect the amount of calcium in your bones and make them weak overtime. People who consume carbonated drinks mostly weigh more than those who do not drink carbonated drinks.

A study at Purdue University found, “Artificial sweeteners in diet sodas can trick your body into thinking you’re eating very sweet food and, as a result, your body will produce more insulin to regulate the levels. This, in turn, becomes stored fat, which can lead to weight gain.”

4. White Bread

You don’t know what it’s like eating air? Have white bread. It’s a very healthy food option because it takes a lot of time to digest and once digested, it becomes sugar. It has very low nutritional value because it is made of refined processed flour. If you like bread and don’t want to stop having it, try to replace it with whole-grain bread or wheat bread.

5. Microwave Popcorn

Popcorn isn’t unhealthy. It’s just microwave popcorn that’s dangerous. It’s very high in fiber and low in fat. Several chemicals in microwave popcorn make it very dangerous and can have negative health effects including lung problems and cancer. Try to make them in a stove or air popper.
