On Tuesday, a young girl was shot near an intercity bus terminal in the Saddar, Karachi. Later, the boy who shot her took his own life.
According to reports, the crime scene took place at MA Jinnah Road in Karachi. The dead body of the boy was taken to Civil Hospital for medico-legal formalities. He was identified as 21-year-old Malik Shahzaib, son of Malik Shoaib Awan. Meanwhile, the girl, 23-year-old Tanzila alias Eemaan, daughter of Bin Yamin, was rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment.
Karachi Police conducts an investigation
CCTV footage of the incident reveals that Shahzaib got out of a rickshaw and shot Eeman who was walking towards a white car. After shooting her, he waited for a few seconds and then shot himself dead with the same pistol.
According to SHO Majid Korai, Shahzaib shot her once in her abdomen and twice on her thigh and then shot himself once in his head.
Initial investigation reveal that Shahzaib worked at the intercity bus terminal while Eeman was a bus hostess. Police believe that the incident apparently took place over their breakup. However, they are investigating the case from different angles.
The Brigade police and Rangers reached the crime scene and collected four empty shells and some live rounds of a 9mm pistol. This evidence was sent to the forensic division of the Sindh police for ballistics cross-matching.
