On Monday 30th March, the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh saw its first casualty due to the novel coronavirus. The same day a child was born in Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria, and you’ve probably guessed by the title what happened next.
When we talk about such words, we associate it with difficult times, job losses, and economic downfall. Pawan, the father of the child named Lockdown says it’s everyone’s duty to follow the guidelines of a lockdown. Encouragement and support are what the people in India need, and therefore the parents named their child… what they did.
A lot could have been done in order to motivate people to stay indoors and in self-isolation. We’re not sure if naming a child LOCKDOWN was necessary.

Apparently, and unfortunately, this is not the only coronavirus inspired name.
So, uhm, just so you all know, there’s now probably a Filipino baby named “Covid Bryant.”
