Rizwan Beyg Highlights Princess Diana’s Love for Pakistani Dresses [Pictures]

The Pakistani designer thinks back of what a huge honor it was.

Princess Diana was and still remains an iconic fashion inspiration. She owned the 80s and 90s with her classic fashion choices that the world had never seen before, at least not in someone from the Royal family.

When she visited Pakistan in 1991, Pakistani fashion designer Rizwan Beyg had the honor to design an outfit for her. In an Instagram post, the designer reminisced that day and shared a photo of the late Princess donning a stunning white shalwar kameez.

“In Memoriam ‘Gone but not forgotten, Diana lives on as the peoples princess …meeting and dressing her was one of the most memorable occasions of my life’,” he wrote.

He designed the outfit himself and you can see the intricate Western embroidery all over the kameez. The bottoms are the modern version of shalwar, i.e. trousers. She can also be seen wearing a white pearl choker necklace and matching earrings.

In an earlier interview, Rizwan Beyg said that being a good friend of the Princess of Wales, Jemima Goldsmith called him and requested him to design the dress for a ‘famous celebrity’ who is coming to Pakistan as a guest.

Dianna wore this stunning white dress on her visit to Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital, Lahore in February 1996. She was seen wearing it again at a cancer fundraiser at London’s Dorchester Hotel in Jully, 1996. The fundraiser was hosted by Prime Minister Imran Khan himself.
