The coronavirus pandemic has crushed the world economy. With vaccines finally being sold by firms like Pfizer, BioNTech, and Sinopharm, some hope stil prevails. Just yesterday, 1,563 new cases were reported in Pakistan. It is difficult to digest that leaders around the globe were clueless when it came to the novel virus. Last year, Firdous Ashiq Awan was just as uninformed as the rest of us. One of her videos from March 2020 is now going viral. And we wonder what got into her.
Last year, Firdous Ashiq Awan was still serving as the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting. She, like all the other world leaders at the time, was unaware of the details regarding coronavirus. But her statement had left us all both confused and shocked.
“The virus can enter your body through the legs”- Firdous Ashiq Awan
In the video that’s now making rounds on social media, the 51-year-old could be heard saying that covering your mouth/face is not enough. She added that every part of the body should be covered to protect oneself against the virus.
However, her choice of words has left netizens in fits of laughter. In one of her addresses, Firdous Ashiq Awan said:
Your head, body, feet, and even legs should be protected. Lest I cover my face and it comes from underneath.
These words have left netizens confused. What is she going on about? Well, take a look at the video and decide for yourself:

Take two!
Around the same time, another video of her was going viral. She was quoted saying the novel coronavirus is ‘dangerous but not deadly’. This, of course, outraged the public because many had lost their loved ones to corona.
Information Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan says #coronavirus is dangerous but not deadly.

Whatever she may have said last year, we can’t hold it against Firdous Ashiq Awan. Many leaders were clueless last year when Pakistan saw its first few cases of coronavirus.
