After Zaviyar Nauman Ijaz, Haroon Kadwani is also talking about the ‘weight’ of being a starkid. The Teri Meri Kahani actor asserts the label of nepotism add pressure on him to outperform.

As the son of producer Abdullah Kadwani, the founder of Pakistan’s leading production house 7th Sky Entertainment, Haroon Kadwani made it big with his debut film Ruposh.

Despite such a lucky break, the young artist voiced the struggles of being a starkid. He shared the highs and lows of coming from such a background in the film industry.

While talking about the success of his blockbuster telefilm, Ruposh, Haroon shared how he feels pressure to outperform due to his ‘starkid’ status. According to him, as a starkid you face the weight of living up to expectations.

“The pressure is immense, … People think it’s easy for me, but I believe there is a lot of weight on my shoulders or any other star kid’s, but obviously I will only speak for myself.”

As for easier access to opportunities that other artists couldn’t dream of, the emerging star shared that he can only make it forward with his own talent. His father can just get him in but talent is how you grow a fanbase.

“It has its pros and cons. My father can give me a chance once or twice, he cannot do it later on. End of the day, it’s all about my talent. If you’re talented and the audiences have accepted you with an open heart, then you do not need to worry.”

Haroon Kadwani also went as far as to critique Netizens that dub him a product of nepotism.

“As of now, I’m sitting here to represent Ruposh, not as Abdullah Kadwani’s son. I was Abdullah Kadwani’s son two months ago as well, but today I’m here as an actor and I believe that is an achievement in itself.”

He asserts these labels such as nepotism are what add pressure on him.

“The term nepotism should actually mean ‘an added weight’ on your shoulder.”
