Earlier, Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez shared that they were expecting twin babies in a viral Instagram reveal. Yesterday, the couple announced that they gave birth to twin babies – a girl and a boy, unfortunately, the girl survived but their son could not make it. The soccer player has announced the death of his baby son in a heartbreaking statement on his ‘gram.
“It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel. Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support. We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time. Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you.”
Earlier, the Portuguese player shared a picture with Georgina showing off the sonograms of their to-be twins.
In June 2017, Cristiano Ronaldo welcomed his twin son and daughter, Mateo and Eva. The mother of the twins has also not been identified and it has been widely reported that the twins were welcomed via a surrogate.
A month later, the athlete confirmed that his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez was pregnant. She gave birth to their first child together, daughter Alana, in November 2017.
On social media, the news of the baby’s death has been met with an outpouring of condolences from throughout the footballing world, friends, and loved ones.
Manchester United showed their support for the grieving football player:
“Your pain is our pain, @Cristiano Sending love and strength to you and the family at this time.”
English Premier League wrote
“The thoughts and condolences of everyone at the Premier League are with you and your family, Cristiano.”
Piers Morgan too expressed his sympathy for the couple.
“Heartbreaking news. My deepest condolences to you and all your family”
