Sheheryar Munawar and Sajal Aly’s Shoot Inspired by Toxic Relationships of Meena Kumari and Marilyn Monroe

Actor Sheheryar Munawar reveals the inspiration behind his viral photoshoot with Sajal Aly. The glamorous shoot is inspired by the real-life toxic relationships of Marilyn Monroe and Meena Kumari with Kamal Amrohi.

Sajal Aly and Sheheryar Munawar are trending all over social media with their gorgeous photoshoot for an e-magazine. While many love the sizzling chemistry between the two, most fans overlook the inspiration and context their photoshoot.

The Anatomy of Melancholy

Inspired by true life events, the Parey Hut Love star shares that the photoshoot is a nod to the real-life courtship and marriages of Arthur Miller with Marilyn Monroe and Kamal Amrohi with Meena Kumari.

The relationship between Indian director Kamal Amrohi and the ‘Queen of Tragedy’ Meena Kumari had many ups and downs. Sajal and Sheheryar do their best to capture the romance as well as the toxicity of their relationship.

“The concept behind the shoot was to follow the story of a self-indulgent, narcissistic and emotionally unavailable artist and his muse,” Sheheryar Munawar explains the concept behind the shoot. “To show the repercussions of being in an emotionally abusive relationship.”

Sheheryar further went on, stating the artist is making his own sculpture rather than his lover’s. The male sculpture is at hint at his narcissistic self-love and “is a metaphor for the abuser killing the abused metaphorically in a toxic relationship with emotional abuse.”

While many are loving the “old world” aesthetics and the photoshoot’s storytelling, the moral brigade is criticizing the actors for their “boldness”.

“Please keep in mind we’re actors playing characters,” Sheheryar concludes with a message to the critics. “Enjoy them for what they are — art.”
