TikToker Ayesha Akram Still Awaits Justice In Mass Groping Case

mass groping - Ayesha Akram

After a whole year has passed we have gotten no update on the mass groping incident that took place at Minar-e-Pakistan last year. Meanewhile the victim, Ayesha Akram, is still awaiting justice.

After the matter remained under the spotlight for several months, it seems everyone has forgotten about it. According to reports by 24NewsHD TV channel, one of the challans filed in the case is still pending.

Due to the objections raised by the defendants, the challan remained a rolling stone for six months.

Now the court has ordered the suspects to appear on September 6, 2022. On the other hand, the lawyers have voiced their concerns over delay in justice in the case.

They have said that such delays emboldened the criminals. The accused would then have no fear of accountability.

More About the Mass Groping Incident

Last year on August 14, hundreds of men manhandled and groped a TikToker, after she told them she was at Minar-e-Pakistan. The TikToker intended for this to be a usual meet-and-greet.

However, what followed became a horror story, with even security being unable to intervene.

Protests were held across the country against the incident. As the matter garnered mass backlash on social media, the matter was taken up by authorities. With over 100 persons taken into custody in the case.

Of all the challans filed in the case, in one of them 11 people, both men and teenage boys, were nominated. Meanwhile six people were nominated in the other six challans.

Rambo, a friend of the TikToker, who was initially a complainant in the case, also became a suspect later.

However, at the same time the victim shaming did not cease. With people going as far as to say all this was a ‘staged ploy’ to tarnish the image of Pakistan.

It is pertinent to mention, how there were other instances of mass harassment on Indepedence Day of 2021.
