Indians are not happy with the trailer of upcoming film Thank God starring Ajay Devgn and Sidharth Malhotra. The film is facing a lawsuit for its depiction of a Hindu god Chitragupta.
The trailer for the upcoming Ajay Devgn and Sidharth Malhotra film Thank God is out. And is already running into some legal troubles. Directed by Indra Kumar with T-Series, Thank God is a fantasy comedy that deals with a rather sensitive topic – religion.
The film revolves around a common man (Sidharth Malhotra), who challenges the Hindu ‘God of Karma’ Chitragupta (played by Ajay Devgn in an elaborate game of life. The depiction of Ajay Devgn as a mythological Hindu god has made people upset in India.
People have made a petition to take legal action against the film and the Bollywood actor. A case has already been filed against Thank God as people are not happy with Ajay’s modern take on the Hindu god who makes “lousy jokes and uses objectionable language.” Indians believe that the film will hurt religious sentiments and will create an “unpleasant situation” nationwide.
“It’s a well-planned conspiracy by Bollywood to disturb the public peace by making fun of gods and goddesses in film,” the petition states.
Advocate Himanshu Shrivastava is leading the case in Juanpur court in Uttar Pradesh. There is legal action against the cast and crew of the film. The court hearing will commence on 18 November while the film’s theatrical release is set for 24 October.
