Nadia Jamil’s Weird Review is Why You Need to Watch Barbie Yourself

The Margot Robbie starrer’s message of women empowerment flew over Nadia’s head.

Netizens are left confused by veteran actress Nadia Jamil’s weird critique of the latest Hollywood summer flick Barbie.

Greta Gerwig’s colorful and funny Barbie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, is currently playing in cinemas worldwide, getting positive reviews from cinema-goers for its empowering message and depiction of womanhood. However, actor Nadia is not one of them.

The veteran actress took the movie’s depiction of a stereotypical Barbie too literally as Twitterati reminded her of a little thing called ‘satire’.

Nadia’s review began by mentioning that she watched the film only because it had been banned by the government of Punjab. However, her subsequent points touched on various aspects that she found problematic in the movie. Check it out!

Netizens thought the main message and theme of the film flew over Nadia’s head as Twitterati schooled her on social media.

One fan wrote,

You missed the entire point. It’s a satirical take on beauty standards perpetuated by ‘Stereotypical Barbie,’ which is the Robbie’s character’s name. The OTT manner in which this is conveyed is to highlight the absurdity of these notions. Her entire journey is one of unlearning.

Another fan of Barbie added, “This is one of the worst reviews I’ve read on the film, you missed out on how some of the monologues went or how one woman gave strength to another one, or the fact that despite the cellulite ‘Barbie’ felt strong to choose what future she wanted…”

Despite Nadia Jamil’s tone-deaf review of the film, Barbie is doing exceptionally well in theaters as people continue to head over to the cinemas to catch Margot Robbie delivering a wonderful Barbie performance.

As for Nadia, at least she enjoyed watching Ryan Gosling but sadly missed the entire point of the film.
