Police Arrest Israeli National for Voicing Concerns About Gaza

Israeli media deemed her support for Palestine as “hate speech”.

Israeli security forces arrested Palestinian singer and neuroscientist Dalal Abu Amneh, who is a Israeli national, on Monday night, for expressing concerns about Gaza.

The arrest came amid allegations of “hate speech,” which she and her legal team have refuted.

Dalal Abu Amneh, a prominent figure known for her music and songs that advocate for Palestine, was taken into custody from her home in Nazareth. According to her lawyers, while she was interrogated by Israeli police, no official decision had been made to extend her detention at the time of reporting.

Born in Nazareth, Dalal Abu Amneh is not only celebrated for her singing but also for her contributions to the field of neuroscience. Her heartfelt songs often touch upon the Palestinian cause and the struggles faced by Palestinians.

The arrest comes in the wake of mounting social media posts and public complaints about her content, particularly those expressing support for Palestine.

The Jerusalem Post reported that several of her online activities and posts had garnered attention and were perceived as “hostile” to Israeli interests.

On Tuesday, Dalal Abu Amneh was expected to appear before the Nazareth Magistrate’s Court, where authorities sought an extension of her detention, although at the time of the hearing, no official decision to extend her detainment had been reached.

Dalal Abu Amneh’s arrest and vocal protest came in the wake of the worst Israeli onslaught against the people of Palestine in recent years. The Gaza strip is currently experiencing horrific bombardment by the Israeli forces, that led to the death of thousand innocent women and children.
